Traffic light replacement at key location in Tonypandy

Residents and road users are advised that traffic lights on the A4119 at Tonypandy will be replaced and upgraded soon.

The improvement work will take place where the A4119 meets both Parc Gellifaelog (pictured) and the nearby Gelli Road - which operate as a single staggered junction.

Work will begin to replace both sets of lights on Friday, August 22, and will last around a week in total - using the school summer holiday to minimise disruption.

The scheme will install new LED traffic signals that are more energy efficient, as well as new and upgraded monitoring equipment.

Temporary four-way traffic signals will be used to simulate the operation of the permanent traffic signals, while they are being replaced. Therefore, significant disruption to road users is not expected.

The Council has appointed Centregreat Ltd to deliver the works on site, which are funded via the ongoing Highways and Transportation Capital Programme.

Thanks in advance to the community for your cooperation while this essential work is completed.
