On July 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. officers from the Winnipeg Police Service's North District responded to a stabbing in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue.
The victim in his 20s, was sitting in a wheelchair in a courtyard in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue when he was stabbed by an unknown man who appeared unexpectedly.
The suspect fled and was quickly taken into custody in the 100 block of Powers Street. Police provided emergency medical care to the victim, who was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable.
Derek Melvin HALL, (38), was charged with Assault with a Weapon and detained in custody.
