Ricketts Highlights Nebraska Wins in Bipartisan Solution Ending Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) highlighted the Nebraska wins in the bipartisan package to end the government shutdown.

"This bipartisan package delivers for Nebraska," said Senator Ricketts. "It extends critical farm bill authorities and supports agricultural research at the University of Nebraska. It helps fight against the New World Screwworm. It also delivers funding to support critical missions at Offutt Air Force Base. The House should pass this package quickly so Americans can get relief."

Wins in the Bipartisan Package to End the Government Shutdown:

  • Extends provisions of the farm bill through September 2026;
  • Invests $4.1 billion in rural infrastructure, housing, and business development
  • Delivers $3.8 billion for agricultural research programs;
  • Delivers funding supporting the cooperative extension at the University of Nebraska;
  • Includes biosecurity measures to prevent the infestation of New World Screwworm in the U.S.;
  • Extends telehealth program authorizations;
  • Includes language similar to the Ricketts-authored Securing American Agriculture Actencouraging the Department of Agriculture to find ways to invest in the development of critical inputs and protect our agricultural supply chains;
  • Protects American farmland from foreign adversaries by adding the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS);
  • Delivers $42,350,000 for the design and development the Survivable Airborne Operation Center (SAOC) at Offutt Air Force Base.
