SCDOT to implement temporary single lane closures on I 77 in Chester County for bridge maintenance

Columbia, S.C. (September 20, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement three temporary, single-lane closures on I-77 in Chester County beginning September 23. These lane closures will allow crews to complete bridge maintenance.

  • The outside lane of I-77 Southbound beginning at mile marker 53 will be closed beginning September 23 at 1 p.m. and will be reopened on September 26.
  • The outside lane of I-77 Southbound beginning at mile marker 56 will be closed beginning September 23 at 1 p.m. and will be reopened on September 26.
  • The inside lane of I-77 Northbound beginning at mile marker 56 will be closed beginning September 23 at 6 p.m. and will be reopened September 25.

SCDOT asks the public to slow down and pay attention when driving through the work zone. You can plan your route ahead of time by using SCDOT's 511 SC app or by visiting 511sc.org. If you can't avoid the area, SCDOT asks that you use caution and slow down when driving near crews.
