As Singapore's population ages, we want to better support our seniors to age well within their communities and in their own homes. Minister for National Development Mr Chee Hong Tat announced that the Enhancement for Active Seniors (Private Housing) Programme, or EASE (Private), will be progressively launched from 1 April 2026.
EASE (Private) is a national programme under Age Well SG, to improve the physical living environment for seniors and to support active ageing. Eligible households living in private properties will each receive $1,200 in vouchers to subsidise 75% of the cost of installing selected senior-friendly fittings.
More than 80,000 eligible households are expected to benefit from the EASE (Private) programme.
Background
Over the years, the Government has implemented various senior-friendly enhancements across our public and private estates. These include estate-level upgrading programmes such as the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and Silver Upgrading Programme for public housing estates as well as the Estate Upgrading Programme (Silver Estate) for private estates. Within our homes, we have the Home Improvement Programme (HIP) for HDB flats and residents selected for HIP can also opt for a range of senior-friendly items under the EASE 2.0 programme.
With the strong support and positive feedback from HDB residents, the EASE programme will be extended to include households with seniors living in private properties.
Eligibility and application phases
All households living in private properties with at least one household member who is a Singapore Citizen and meets one of the following are eligible for EASE (Private):
Applications for EASE (Private) will be rolled out in phases as follows, to spread out the installation process by the panel of pre-qualified contractors:
| When to Apply | Who can Apply (based on your age in 2026) |
| From 1 April 2026 onwards | Households with seniors aged 80 and above or households with seniors aged 60 to 64 who require assistance with at least 1 Activities of Daily Living (ADL1) |
| From 1 July 2026 onwards | Households with seniors aged 70 and above |
| From 1 October 2026 onwards | Households with seniors aged 65 and above |
Eligible households will receive a mailer on the steps to apply for EASE (Private). Upon successful application, households will be able to engage a pre-qualified contractor to install the selected senior-friendly fittings in their homes.
Senior-friendly fittings
There are seven senior-friendly fittings that can be installed to improve the homes of our seniors, making it safer and easier for our seniors to stay active and engaged in their daily activities, within their own homes. The fittings include grab bars and slip-resistant treatment for floors. See Annex Afor the list and prices of the senior-friendly fittings.
EASE (Private) supports ageing-in-place and complements other national initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility and senior-friendly living environments.
