Choose your FSA elections during Open Enrollment, May 8 - 26, 2026

Open Enrollment is the time to choose how much you want to contribute to your Flexible Spending Account. Now is a good time to check your balance in your Navia Portal and decide how much you'd like to contribute next year.

Unlike other benefits, FSA elections do not carry over from year to year, so if you want an FSA this year, you must enroll or re-enroll during Open Enrollment. We don't want you to miss out - so double check your FSA elections in yourBenefits Portal during Open Enrollment.

New higher IRS FSA maximums!

⭐The IRS has increased the Dependent Care FSA amount, for the first time in 30 years!

  • Dependent Care FSA: between $120 - $7,500 (per household), ($3750 if married and filing separately)

The IRS also increased Healthcare FSA amounts:

  • Healthcare FSA: between $120 - $3,400

An FSA, or Flexible Spending Account, lets you use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare or dependent care expenses.

If you've never had an FSA, you might have a lot of quesitons about how it actually works. And if you've had one for a while, you still may have questions about how it works for your situation.We can help!

Help! I might have unsued funds from my Healthcare FSA

Don't worry! You still have time to spend your FSA funds for the 2025-2026 year.

  • Have you submitted all your eligible expenses for reimbursement through Navia?
  • Have you purched the medical supplies you may need using your Navia Debit card (sunscreen anyone?)
  • Have you explored the FSA Store for last minute items you may need?
  • If you have last minute expenses for the plan year, you can submit receipts for reimbursement to Naiva by September 28. 2026 for expenses incured before June 30, 2026 for reimbursement

After June 30th, Navia will tell the City about any unused Healthcare FSA funds.

Rollover amounts for 2026-2027

Between $50 and $660 of unused 2025-2026 Healthcare FSA dollars will carry over into the new year automatically. These funds will be available for use late July, 2026.

Surprising Ways to Use Your FSA

You probably know FSAs cover prescriptions and doctor visits - but did you know they can also be used for items like:

  • Menstrual care products
  • Sunscreen and first aid kits
  • Over-the-counter medications (like allergy relief or pain relievers)
  • Mental health services and therapy
  • Eye exams, glasses, and contacts
  • Air Filters / Air Purifiers
  • Braces (Dental)
  • Light Therapy
  • Electrolytes
  • Massage Gun / Foam Roller

There are thousands of eligible expenses. If you haven't explored the full list, you might be missing out! Visit the FSA List to discover everything you can buy or be reimbursed for. Or shop directly at the FSA store.

Moda Health Members - A Quick Reminder Not to Double Dip

If you are a Moda Health Member you qualify for a Garner Health Reimbursement Account. You need to be careful not to double dip. You can't submit the same expense to both your FSA and your Garner account. Choose one or the other depending on the situation.
