DENVER - Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency, and the Denver Regional Council of Governments are encouraging residents to "Shift 2" trips a week away from driving to alternative forms of transportation and earn rewards!
Participants who shift two trips each week through the Shift2 program are entered into monthly prize drawings. Shift2 gives away approximately $1,000 in gift cards each month and features local restaurants and businesses. The program is for people who live and work in Denver and here's how to take part:
Step 1: Consider shifting 2 solo driving trips you would normally take each week - such as your ride in to work, the store, or the gym - and choose to walk, bike, roll, scoot, carpool, or take a train or bus instead.
Step 2: Join the Shift2 network and log the trips you shift each week in your "dashboard," and you'll be entered into random monthly gift card drawings. In the process, you could create new commuting habits that last a lifetime!
Reducing two car trips each week:
"With gas prices a challenge for many people right now, this is a great time to consider alternative modes of travel," said Amy Ford, Executive Director of DOTI. "Getting out of your car a couple of times of week, exploring new neighborhoods and connecting with nature and community, can also positively affect physical, mental, and environmental health, and through the Shift2 program, we're creating an incentive for people to give it a try."
More information on how to join the Shift2 Citywide network can be found at https://www.denvergov.org/shift2. The program lasts through the end of the year.
