There are several active roadway construction projects happening throughout the community ranging from utility upgrades, storm water drainage infrastructure updates to roadway safety improvements. This summary offers details about four projects actively underway, noting duration, purpose of the work and contact information should residents have questions:
City Public Works is working on three capital projects along East and West Bayshore Roads to upgrade storm water infrastructure. The first project is installing a storm drain pump station near 3803 East Bayshore Road and storm drain pipelines between Corporation Way and Adobe Creek on East Bayshore Road. Expect lane closures and one-way southbound traffic only. The last two projects are installing a storm drain pump station at 3600 West Bayshore Road and storm drain pipelines between Loma Verde Avenue and Adobe Creek on West Bayshore Road. Expect traffic and neighborhood impact due to construction activities early 2027, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Temporary traffic controls may be in place. Phase 1 of the Embarcadero Road Improvements Project continues and includes north side improvements along Embarcadero Road between Emerson Street and High Street. This new road alignment will allow for a safer bike route and pedestrian pathway to be built and a speed table-a flat-topped raised crosswalk-will be installed at Emerson Street to help reduce traffic speeds and increase visibility of pedestrians and bicyclists crossing the street. Saturday work on August 1 and August 8 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. are in effect to expedite construction activities before the start of school on August 13 and reduce traffic impacts on Embarcadero. PG&E is upgrading and replacing portions of their natural gas pipelines near West El Camino Real and Arastradero Road. From the end of July through September, expect traffic and neighborhood impacts as they conduct work Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. including closing one lane of traffic. PG&E crews are also replacing a section of a gas line along Alma Street between Colorado Avenue and El Carmelo Avenue as part of ongoing safety work. The work is expected to continue through October, expect traffic and neighborhood impacts as they conduct work Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. including closing one lane of traffic and traffic shifts.
