Spring Convocation to Begin Sunday

Lee University's spring Convocation will begin on Sunday, Jan. 26, and conclude on Wednesday, Jan. 29. This dedicated time at the beginning of the semester will allow the university to come together to prayerfully reflect and worship.

Each service will welcome a different speaker, beginning with Lee President Paul Conn and concluding with Clayton Watson, pastor of Sanctuary Church in Orlando, Florida.

On Monday, Lee alum Jeremy Isaacs will continue the sermon series. He currently serves as the lead pastor at Generations Church in Canton, Georgia. Prior to that appointment, Isaacs was campus pastor of Canton Church for five years at Mount Paran North before the church became autonomous as Generations Church. Isaacs co-authored a book with his brother, Jason Isaacs, titled "Toxic Soul: A Pastor's Guide to Leading Without Losing Heart." After completing his undergraduate degree in Christian studies and youth ministry at Lee, Jeremy went on to receive his Master of Arts in theological studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jason Browning, also a Lee alum, will bring the message for Tuesday. He is currently the lead pastor of Metropolitan Church in Birmingham, Alabama, and has been a frequent Lee chapel speaker. Browning has been involved in church ministry for over 20 years and previously served as the associate pastor at Westmore Church of God in Cleveland.

Convocation will end on Wednesday evening with Watson, a Lee alum and vice chair of the Lee Board of Directors. In addition to pastoring in Orlando, Watson serves as an adjunct professor for Lee Online and is a member of the Florida Church of God State Council.

The theme for the services is "Reconciled," inspired by Colossians 1:22-23, "[Christ] has now reconciled [you] in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven."

"One of the greatest truths of the Christian life is that, through Christ, we have been reconciled to the Father," said Wes Lutes, campus pastor. "Once strangers, we are now embraced as children of God. This reality is a cause for celebration and consecration. We pray that this Convocation offers our campus a powerful glimpse of that hope-filled promise and a path forward into living it out!"

Evening services will take place at 7:30 in the Conn Center. Each service will begin with worship and praise led by LeeU Worship. Following the Sunday evening service, there will be a student mixer to foster fellowship and continued discussion.

Lee encourages all students and guests to attend and participate in this semester's Convocation. For those wishing to view online, services will be available via livestream at leeu.live and on Facebook. A livestream viewing will also be available in the Dixon Center on Monday and Tuesday evening.
