Santa Fe Public Library Celebrates Native American Heritage Month

November Events Honoring Indigenous Voices

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Santa Fe Public Library invites the community to join a series of events highlighting Native authors, artists, and performers. These programs celebrate Indigenous stories, traditions, and creative expression across our local libraries.

Join Cherokee Nation poet Vivian Mary Carroll for a reading, Q&A, and book signing of her poetry collection,Talking Leaves Scrapbook. In this work, Carroll crafts keen expressions of a life lived deeply and invites readers to explore the textures of memory, identity, and belonging.

Celebrate a very special storytime with Rebecca Lee Kunz, 2025 Caldecott Medal-winning illustrator of Chooch Helped by Cherokee author Andrea L. Rogers. A member of the Santa Fe community and citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Kunz will share the book, lead a hands-on activity, and answer questions during an open Q&A.
