Capito Announces Nearly $2 Million Grant for WV CASA

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced a $1,980,000 grant for the West Virginia CASA Association, Inc. This funding was made available by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) for use through the Mentoring for Youth Affected by Opioid and Other Substance Use program.

"For years, West Virginia has faced the devastating consequences of the drug epidemic, and we have seen it impact our youth in too many cases," Senator Capito said. "This grant will provide resources for the West Virginia CASA Association to enhance mentoring services needed by children and youth affected by this epidemic. I am proud to help secure this funding through the Department of Justice and thank all of our Court Appointed Special Advocates in West Virginia for the wonderful and needed work they do."
