Rep. Crank Invites the Small Business Administration to Relocate to Colorado Springs

WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05) sent a letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA), inviting them to move their regional office from Denver, a sanctuary city, to Colorado Springs.

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler in her Day One Memo ordered regional offices currently based in sanctuary cities to relocate to communities that comply with federal immigration law.

"Sanctuary state and city policies have consequences, and moving the SBA out of Denver is a prime example," said Rep. Crank. "It is important that SBA offices are located not in major cities-dominated by large corporations and run-away governments-but in locations where safety is prioritized, and innovation propels the local economy. Consider this an open invitation for the SBA to move to Colorado Springs, the home of some of the most cutting-edge small businesses in the nation and where the local community values Main Street America.

Excerpts from the letter read:

I write to applaud your recent decision to move Small Business Administration (SBA) offices out of sanctuary cities. These cities, like Denver, are more interested in appeasing far-left radicals than protecting their constituents and refuse to cooperate with reasonable federal immigration policies. It would be irrational for the federal government to continue forcing public servants to come to work in cities that are uninterested in keeping them safe.

The short move to Colorado Springs would allow the SBA to comply with President Trump's executive orders and your Day One Memo while minimizing reduction in services or loss of personnel. President Trump has prioritized hiring military spouses to federal jobs to address the 20% unemployment rate they face. Moving the District Office to the Springs would allow it to recruit spouses from the five military installations located within El Paso County. Any increase in spousal employment will help military families make ends meet and assist our Armed Forces meet their recruiting and retention goals.
