Southfield Fire Department to Host Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Training Exercise on November 6

The Southfield Fire Department, in collaboration with MABAS Division 3202 / OAKWAY Fire Mutual Aid Group and Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital, will be hosting a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Training Exercise on November 6, 2025. This MCI exercise will take place at the Southfield Fire Department Training Center, behind Fire Station 5, 24477 Lahser Road,. The exercise will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m.

During the exercise, Southfield fire crews will be dispatched to a simulated high-rise fire on the 4th floor of the training facility with smoke and flames seen. On arrival, crews will discover many simulated victims, requiring additional resources to be called to the scene. Crews will be responsible for deploying firefighting operations appropriately while managing multiple victims and conducting triage to determine which victims are most critical. Once triaged, victims will then be transported via EMS and/or other means to the Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

The intent of this exercise is to test the capability of the Southfield Fire Department and it's mutual aid partners ability to respond to large scale incidents that involve a large number of victims requiring emergency medical care. Additionally, this exercise will assist hospital staff in evaluating their capability to react should such an incident occur.
