Economic Diplomacy at the Center of Discussions at the Meeting of Moldova’s Ambassadors

23 December 2025, Chișinău - The role of diplomatic missions in supporting the economic development of the Republic of Moldova was the focus of the second discussion panel, Economic Diplomacy, held within the framework of the Meeting of Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Offices, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu underlined that attracting foreign investment and promoting exports are key priorities of the Government, and that diplomatic missions play a vital role in advancing these objectives. He emphasized the need for proactive engagement by embassies in identifying opportunities for economic cooperation, promoting investment projects, and facilitating dialogue with business communities in host countries.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi stressed the importance of interinstitutional cooperation and the economic mandate of embassies in line with the Government's priorities.

"Effective economic diplomacy is built on coordinated actions, expertise, and strong partnerships. Diplomatic missions must become active platforms for promoting investments, exports, and the economic image of the Republic of Moldova," stated Minister Mihai Popșoi.

Natalia Bejan, Director of the Investment Agency, presented the practical tools available to diplomatic missions for attracting investments and boosting exports, highlighting Moldova's portfolio of investment projects and their potential on international markets. She also underscored the importance of promoting a coherent economic image of the country and capitalizing on the Republic of Moldova's competitive advantages.

During the discussions, participants also emphasized the need to promote Moldova's tourism image and domestic products on foreign markets as an integral part of economic diplomacy, in support of the business environment and the competitiveness of the national economy.
