Hailey Bieber is opening up about her difficult postpartum journey.
In a new interview with Women's Wear Daily published October 30, the Rhode founder, 29, revealed that she struggled with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) after giving birth to her and husband Justin Bieber's son Jack Blues Bieber in August 2024, per E! News.
"I feel really drawn to women's health," she said. "As a woman, I feel frustrated by the lack of research, the lack of awareness, the lack of certain conversation around it."
Bieber explained that her interest in women's health deepened after becoming a mother herself and realizing through her own struggles with PMDD how little awareness there is around women's health conditions.
"That was just a really intense and special journey that I had. There's so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth. There's so many things that happen leading up to having a child," she said, adding, "After I had my son, I struggled with that a bit, and there's just not a lot of conversation or research around it."
One reason she is choosing to speak openly about her pregnancy and postpartum journey is to help others experiencing similar issues to feel less alone.
"Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone," she said. "When we can identify with each other and have conversations relating to each other and talking about the things we're dealing with and struggling with, I do think it makes it feel less of a lonely journey."
