Thousands Rally in Grand Park in Solidarity with SEIU Local 99 and UTLA After Stalled Negotiations with LAUSD
After months of stalled negotiations with the Los Angeles Unified School District, thousands turned out to Grand Park to rally in solidarity with UTLA and SEIU Local 99.
At the joint rally, both unions announced a strike date of April 11, 2026, if no agreement is reached before then.
With billions in reserves, LAUSD could negotiate a fair contract that prioritizes educators' and students' needs - yet they choose not to. LAUSD has committed $6.7 billion in multi-year contracts to private companies since 2022 while cutting jobs.
