COLUMBUS - State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) today announced that the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health recently issued a temporary freeze and enhanced review process for new behavioral health and rehab provider applications.
This action comes in response to widespread concerns about fraud and abuse and is intended to strengthen oversight and transparency while ensuring that services are delivered properly.
"After years of fraud concerns, patient brokering, Medicaid abuse, and questionable out-of-state operators flooding communities, Ohio is finally cracking down," said Pizzulli. "Addiction recovery should be about helping people, not exploiting them for money."
Existing provider operations, authorizations, and ongoing services may continue uninterrupted.
"The providers doing things the right way have nothing to worry about," added Pizzulli.
