Chinese Consul General in New York Chen Li Visit Pittsburgh

From June 24 to 25, 2026, Chen Li, the Chinese Consul General in New York, visited Pittsburgh. During the visit, he met with Mayor O'Connor, as well as executives from Block Communications and PPG Industries.

Consul General Chen Li stated that the recent successful summit between the presidents of China and the United States in Beijing has injected new momentum into bilateral cooperation. He highlighted Pittsburgh's distinct advantages in medicine, computing, and artificial intelligence, pointing to PPG and other local firms as prime examples of thriving business collaborations in China. Furthermore, he noted that China's 15th Five-Year Plan and its focus on high-quality development offer broad opportunities for U.S. companies and sub-national cooperation. He welcomed the broader Pittsburgh community to visit China to experience its dynamism firsthand and explore further avenues for partnership.

The U.S. side said that they welcomed the stability of bilateral relations, and hoped to deepen cooperation in sister-city ties, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
