UAA defeats UAF in OT

Anchorage, Alaska - Aiden Westin scored a power-play goal in overtime to lift UAA to a 3-2 win over UAF in game four of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Saturday in front of a crowd of 4,865 at Sullivan Arena.

UAF leads this year's series 4-2.

The first period featured a power-play goal from each squad.

Tommy Cronin tipped a shot by Nathan Rickey at 9:39 for UAF, and Logan Acheson scored off a one-timer at 13:37.

Jackson Anderson scored at 18:26 of the first period to give the Nanooks a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

Ethan Warrener tied the game at 2-2 with his third goal of the season for the Seawolves at 1:18 of the second period.

A UAF penalty late in the third period put UAA on the powerplay for overtime.

The Seawolves hit the pipe twice on the opening shift before Westin fired a wrister into the top corner 55 seconds into the extra period. Ryan Johnson tallied his ninth assist of the season while Logan Acheson earned his second point of the game with an assist.

UAF out-shot UAA 27-25.

UAA finished 2-for-5 on the powerplay and held UAF 1-for-3.

Tyler Krivtsov finished with 25 saves.

UAA will play at Lindenwood Feb. 13-14.
