WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today announced $16 million in federal investments for Kansas rural health care providers through the third round of funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), administered by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Sen. Moran helped establish the federal program in last year's reconciliation legislation, also known as the Working Families Tax Cut. The program was created to help identify the root challenges facing rural health providers and invest in solutions to improve outcomes for struggling providers.

"These federal resources will help strengthen care for Kansans in rural communities and improve access to high-quality, affordable services close to home," said Sen. Moran. "I worked with my colleagues to establish this program last year to make certain rural providers in Kansas are equipped with the resources and support needed to address the unique challenges they face. These federal investments will help Kansas health providers adopt innovative technologies, improve access to transportation for critical health care and connect rural Kansans to specialty and behavioral health care more quickly. I will continue working with our rural health care providers and state leaders to advance innovative solutions that strengthen rural communities across Kansas."

Recipients of this round of federal resources will use the funding to expand emerging healthcare technologies and improve patient transportation across rural Kansas. The resources will also allow rural healthcare providers to adopt technologies including AI, remote patient monitoring, and diagnostic and surgical tools, along with additional funding to strengthen interfacility transportation and help rural patients reach specialty and behavioral healthcare more quickly.
