WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined Hannity on Fox News to discuss the consequences of a Schumer Shutdown and Democrats' hypocrisy in refusing to keep the government open.
On Democrats' selfish decision to put their radical, far-left base ahead of the American people:
"Look, there's no doubt why [Democrats] have a 54% disapproval rating with the American people. It's because they just don't get it anymore. I mean, Chuck Schumer is afraid of his own shadow, and I actually think that shadow's name is AOC. So, it's a dark day because I think that that's not only looming over him, it's clear it's looming over the entire Democratic Party. And today … once again, they did a selfish thing. Instead of thinking about putting the American people first, keeping this moving, letting us continue to do the work that people send (us) here (to do).
"And you know what they ask for in exchange for this? The very things that lost them the election on November 5th. Elections have consequences. We're trying to do the work of the American people, and unfortunately, the Democrats are the reason that the government will shut down."
On Democrats holding the American people and critical government services hostage:
"And eventually they will blink. They know the right thing to do is to move this forward for the American people. As Senator Mullin said, they did it time and time again, (voting for) this very same bill. The only reason they're making a different change here is because of Donald Trump. Donald Trump won the hearts and minds of the American people. He won their confidence. And we're going to enact his vision. So, we're ready to get going, and we'll be here when they finally get to do that, too."
