DENVER - This week the Colorado Democratic Party launched a micro-site, "Con or Marx-ism?" and is continuing with 15 Days of Marx-ism to remind Colorado voters just how extreme, reckless and unfit Republican nominee Victor Marx is and spotlight the top Marx-isms.
Day 4 Marx-ism: "Am I still radioactive?"
Marx has run a toxic campaign that has alienated voters - and his own party. In acampaign event, Marx himself even seemed to realize how terribly things were going:
"Michael Allen, the guy running for Attorney General? We need him as our Attorney General, Michael Allen. After all this time, I said, hey, bro, I'm still radioactive? He said, 'oh, yeah.' The candidates don't want to get around me. I hadn't had any of them want to take a picture with me. I said, well, who the hell wants to be a real actor if I just light up in the dark, right? I'll run people up that shouldn't be around me."
Several former GOP party officials and his Republican primary opponents have publicly denounced Marx, and the only Republican governor elected in the last 50 years has declined to endorse him. A former party chair said Marx's candidacy was a "death wish" and told the New York Times that he "wished for Marx to lose by as large a margin as possible."
Another party resignation came just this week, after clips resurfaced of Marx laughing while talking about an incident where he violently pushed his wife into a wall. The party's secretary told Colorado Politics he could no longer stand to support Marx, even though party bylaws require it: "I've got to sleep at night, too."
All Republican candidates for statewide office and Congress are still in support of Marx; CD-4 Rep. Lauren Boebert, CD-5 Rep. Jeff Crank and CD-8 Rep. Gabe Evans even promoted their support of Marx at a summer "unity" event.
