To help celebrate Arbor Day this year, City of Indianola Horticulturist Supervisor Angie Buchanan, members of the Indianola Trees Committee and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources joined third-grade learners from Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School on Wednesday, April 23, and planted four conifer trees, extending the windbreak around the school playground.
The students were surprised to learn that the oldest trees in the windbreak were planted by students in 2010, making those trees older than they are!
Many thanks to school staff and students for making a lasting impact on their school environment - one shovel at a time.
