Ridgeland Avenue full closure in Oak Park

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by Union Pacific to a railroad crossing on Ridgeland Avenue south of North Boulevard in Oak Park will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 p.m. Monday, July 20.

A detour will direct the public to Madison Street, Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) and Lake Street. The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
