Rovshan Sadigbayli, the new Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Sadigbayli had been serving as Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria and to Slovenia, based in Vienna, as well as Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office at Vienna from 2021 to 2026, and also as Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Slovakia, based in Vienna, from 2021 to 2023. From 2016 to 2021, he served at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Austria and the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office at Vienna, as Deputy Chief of Mission from 2019 to 2021 and as Counsellor from 2016 to 2019. He served at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States of America from 2009 to 2013.
Beginning his career in Azerbaijan's Ministry of Education in 2002, Mr. Sadigbayli held numerous subsequent positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, including the Regional Security Department (2015-2016); the Regional Threats Division (2014-2015); and the Department of Foreign Policy Planning and Strategic Studies (2006-2009).
Mr. Sadigbayli holds master's degrees from the University of Massachusetts, United States, Bilkent University, Türkiye, and Baku State University, Azerbaijan, where he also obtained his bachelor's degree. He is married with one son.
