Pickett, Baker: Wyoming County to Receive More Than $3.6 Million in Natural Gas Impact Fees

June 17, 2026

WYOMING - Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) announced today Wyoming County and its municipalities will receive more than $3.6 million in natural gas impact fees from 2025 to support infrastructure enhancements, environmental improvements, public safety initiatives and more.

Wyoming County will receive more than $1.3 million and 23 of its municipalities collectively will receive more than $2.3 million. Washington Township will see the highest payout among the municipalities with $375,395.

"I am pleased to see Wyoming County is again benefitting greatly from the impact fees derived from nearby natural gas producers. It's just another example of how the industry continues to support Northeast Pennsylvania," said Pickett. "This extra revenue is crucial for our local governments to fund critical programs and improvement projects."

"Energy development provides a significant economic boost for the region, and these funds help our local governments pay for a wide range of community and environmental protection projects," Baker said.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has distributed more than $3.12 billion in natural gas impact fees since the enactment of Act 13 in 2012. Fees are collected from drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The other 40% goes into the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, which supports statewide environmental initiatives, greenways and infrastructure projects.

Payments to municipalities are expected to be distributed in early July.
