Lipscomb faculty member Jessica Wallace receives the ACCP Nephrology PRN Leadership Excellence Award.
Two Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy faculty members have received national recognition from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) for their leadership, research and contributions to advancing pharmacy practice and education.
Jessica Wallace, associate professor of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, received the ACCP Nephrology Practice and Research Network (PRN) Leadership Excellence Award in recognition of her contributions to advancing research and collaboration in kidney-related pharmacotherapy. Wallace, immediate past chair of the network, helped lead initiatives that included publication of an influential paper addressing kidney function estimation and medication dosing.
Wallace also received an ACCP Adult Medicine PRN seed research grant for her project, "Current Teaching Practices Among U.S. Pharmacy Schools Regarding Kidney Function Estimation Equations." Working with researchers at Howard University and Virginia Commonwealth University, Wallace will examine how pharmacy students nationwide are taught to estimate kidney function and apply those calculations to medication dosing. The study aims to identify opportunities to strengthen pharmacy education and improve patient safety.

Susan Hamblin, associate professor of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, was named a co-recipient of the ACCP Critical Care PRN Research Award, which recognizes significant contributions to research in critical care pharmacotherapy. Hamblin shared the honor with Joanna Stollings of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their work establishing and leading the Vanderbilt/Lipscomb Critical Care Pharmacy Research Fellowship, launched in 2020. The program prepares postgraduate pharmacists for careers in research and teaching and has graduated three fellows who have contributed to numerous research projects and publications.
Hamblin also presented research titled "Evaluation of Cefepime-Resistance Patterns After Cefepime Exposure on a Burn Unit," examining antibiotic resistance patterns associated with the use of cefepime, an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections.
