Creative Greensboro Celebrates Arts and Culture Month This May with AtriumLive and Citywide Events

Creative Greensboro will host events this May in honor of Arts and Culture Month - showcasing a vibrant lineup of performances, community gatherings, and cultural experiences that highlight the City's thriving arts scene.

New this year is AtriumLive, a weekly lunchtime music series designed to bring live, local performances into the heart of downtown. Held every Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 pm, AtriumLive invites working professionals, families, and downtown residents to enjoy a midday break filled with music and community.

All performances will take place in the second-floor atrium of the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy an hour of live entertainment in a relaxed setting.

AtriumLive Featured Performers:

  • Wednesday, May 6: Andy Eversole (bluegrass banjo)
  • Wednesday, May 13: King M Dot (acoustic soul rap)
  • Wednesday, May 20: UCON Songwriters Collective (gospel)
  • Wednesday, May 27: Nicole Smith (jazz, classical, and pop vocalist)

In addition to AtriumLive, residents and visitors are encouraged to explore a range of signature Arts and Culture Month events happening throughout Greensboro. Some City happenings include:

  • First Friday (Friday, May 1): Creative Greensboro will celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with an interactive, family friendly event from 6-9 pm on Friday, May 1, at the Greensboro Cultural Center. The evening will include a Maker's Market vendor fair featuring local artists and makers, and family friendly activities in the Greensboro Cultural Center's four art galleries. Students of the Montagnard Association of NC will present a special dance performance at 7 pm.
  • Greensboro Culture Pass Program: A citywide initiative designed to highlight and expand access to free cultural and artistic events offered by local creatives and cultural organizations running from May through September.
  • Greensboro Choral Society Spring Concert (Saturday, May 2, 7:30 pm): Experience an evening of powerful choral music presented by the Greensboro Choral Society at Odell Memorial Hall.
  • CultureWorks (Saturday, May 23, 11 am to 8 pm): A new free one-day arts and culture festival featuring a dynamic showcase of fashion art and music. This event takes place in the Greensboro Cultural Center and LeBauer Park, 208 N. Elm St.

Arts and Culture Month reflects Greensboro's ongoing commitment to supporting local artists, strengthening creative industries, and making the arts accessible to all.

"This month is an invitation to experience the creativity that defines Greensboro," said Jocquelyn Boone, chief creative economy officer for Creative Greensboro. "From lunchtime concerts to large-scale community events, there are countless ways to connect with the arts and with one another."

All AtriumLive performances are free and open to the public. All city Arts and Culture Month events are also free or low-cost, making it easy for everyone to participate.
