During the meeting, the progress of PepsiCo's investment project in Kazakhstan was reviewed. In particular, the world-renowned brand has launched the construction of a snack production plant in the Almaty region, with an investment of $368 million.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the expected economic impact of the project. In addition to creating around 900 permanent jobs, the company plans to fully localize potato cultivation for chip production.
Stephen Kehoe noted that, to date, about 15 farms from Pavlodar, Akmola, Karaganda, Almaty, and Zhetysu regions have joined the program.
The project also provides for expanding raw material storage facilities and advancing scientific approaches to improving potato yield and quality.
Welcoming PepsiCo's commitment to developing sustainable agriculture, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev assured that the Government and local authorities will provide comprehensive support to ensure the timely launch of production.
