The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) would like to invite neighborhoods throughout Humboldt County to participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, for an evening of community connection and crime prevention.
Each year, local Neighborhood Watch groups gather together to flip on their porch lights, head outside, and celebrate in their own unique way, including block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, and visits from emergency personnel. This year, HCSO deputies will be on patrol visiting events and fostering a strong sense of community.
"Whether you join a National Night Out event or start your own Neighborhood Watch, everyone has a role to play in keeping our community safe. We want the public to come out, meet our deputies, ask questions, and get to know your neighbors. When law enforcement and the community stand united, we make it clear to criminals that Humboldt County is not a place for them to live or operate," said Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal.
First rolled out in 1984, National Night Out is an annual campaign that draws in more than 38 million participants across 17,000 communities in 50 states and military bases around the world. The overall mission is to enhance relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, bringing folks together under positive circumstances.
