Two new policies approved

June 4, 2025

The following policies are approved and effective as of June 3, 2025. Below are the highlights of the policies:

Ensuring Equal Employment Opportunity and Implementing Equal Opportunity Programs (Interim)

  • Overview Section- The University is committed to equal employment opportunity in compliance federal state civil rights laws and University policy.
  • Section 1- The University develops Equal Employment Opportunity Programs (including for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans) and reports the results of its efforts annually.
  • Section 3- Director, Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance (CRTC) is the official responsible for development and overall implementation of the University's equal employment opportunity programs.
  • Sections 4 and 5-Annual EEO program reports are provided to the President for review and approval, and results are also reviewed with leadership, e.g., vice presidents and deans.
  • Section 6- Employees and supervisors will support the university's equal opportunity programs by participating in required training.

RespondingtoCurtailmentsinOperationsDuetoInclement Weather and Other Hazardous Emergency Conditions

  • Section 2- Employees should give their personal safety priority consideration when evaluating their ability to report to/leave from work or safely perform their duties.
  • Section 3- WWU faculty and staff working on co-located facilities will follow any related guidelines or policies of the host facility at co- located facilities.
  • Section 4- Supervisors are expected to follow Environmental Health and Safety guidance and/or or consult with EHS on potentially unsafe working conditions unique to their operations even in the absence of official University safety-related communications.
  • Section 10-- If faculty are unable to report to work or need to leave early due the impact of inclement weather, they are to exercise the options listed on the Inclement Weather website.
  • Section 11- Department heads will ensure that internal procedures are established for their respective areas to effectively respond to inclement weather and hazardous conditions.
