ICE Arrests Illegal Alien with a New York-Issued Commercial Driver’s License

This illegal alien was RELEASED into the country by the Biden Administration and had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud

WASHINGTON - The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the following statement after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an illegal alien who had been issued a commercial driver's license (CDL) by the state of New York.

On September 4, an ICE officer with Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia was conducting inspections of commercial vehicles at a weigh station in Newberry, Pennsylvania. When one driver presented his CDL for inspection as required, the officer determined that the driver, Simranpal Singh, was an illegal alien from India and took the suspect into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Singh had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He will remain in ICE custody pending transfer to the U.S. Marshals Service. Upon completion of the criminal case, ICE will resume custody and he will be given due process through pending removal proceedings.

"This illegal alien not only had a CDL from the sanctuary state of New York, but he also had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud," said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. "This is the result of the disastrous open-border policies of the Biden Administration and the sanctuary policies of Kathy Hochul's New York. Thankfully, the brave men and women of ICE have taken this criminal off our roads, saving American lives. Sanctuary politicians must stop these reckless policies that put American lives in danger. DHS will never apologize for removing illegal aliens from our roadways and making America safe again."

Singh illegally entered the United States through Arizona in June 2022 and was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol. He was then RELEASED into the country by the Biden Administration.

Under Governor Kathy Hochul, New York's sanctuary policies have had disastrous consequences in other states. These include:

• In March, ICE arrested Sukhdev Singh, an illegal alien from India, after he caused a crash while driving a semi-truck that left a U.S. citizen hospitalized in critical condition in Indianapolis, Indiana. Singh had been given a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) by Hochul's New York. 
• In October 2025, ICE arrested Anmol Anmol, an illegal alien from India, in Oklahoma. Hochul's New York had given Anmol a CDL that listed him as "No Name Given" Anmol.
• In August 2023, New York Police Department (NYPD) officers arrested Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal alien from Venezuela and Tren de Aragua gang member, for recklessly driving a motorcycle with a 2-year-old child who was not wearing a helmet. He was released due to New York's sanctuary policies, and six months later, Ibarra went on to murder nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia in February 2024.
