Canisius University of Buffalo has proposed an Associate of Science (A.S.) program in General Science. A master plan amendment is required because the proposed program will be the institution's first associate level program in the discipline area of the biological sciences. The Department has completed its review of the proposal and has determined that the proposed program meets the program registration requirements in the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. Per our standard process, we canvassed degree-granting institutions in the Western Region on September 17, 2024. On October 8, 2024, we received a response from Erie Community College objecting to the proposed Master Plan Amendment and calling for a public hearing. The two colleges met on January 9, 2025 but were unable to resolve the issue. NYSED is required to conduct a public hearing, per Section 137 of Chapter 82 of the Laws of 1995.
This meeting has been scheduled for August 17, 2026. Additional information is available at Notice of Public Hearing for Associate Level Program at Canisius University of Buffalo - August 17, 2026.
