Trenton Secretary of State office to close for one week for move to new location

Most transactions can be done at mi.gov/sos

TRENTON, Mich. - The Trenton Secretary of State office at 3040 Van Horn Rd. will close for one week as it moves to a new location, but most residents can go online to mi.gov/sos instead for their transactions.

The office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 28, and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, in the new office located at 3575 West Rd.

The new location will include public restrooms, updated counters, expanded office space, and other building upgrades.

During the closure, residents will have other options to complete their transactions. Many can be completed online at mi.gov/sos. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from a computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Self-service stations provide instant license plate, driver's license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options. The nearest self-service stations are located in the Meijer store at 22600 Allen Rd. in Woodhaven and in the Kroger store at 16705 Fort St. in Southgate.

Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at mi.gov/sos or by calling 888-767-6424. The nearest offices are located at 21572 Ecorse Rd. in Taylor and 18412 Telegraph Rd. in Brownstown Township. The offices are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
