A Field Tour To Tema Oil Facilities Ahead of 24-Hour Economy Implementation

A joint team led by Dramani Bukari- PhD, NPA Deputy Chief Executive together with key representatives from the downstream petroleum sector, has embarked on a field tour of the Tema oil facilities-BOST Energies (APD) Quantum Terminals and Sentuo Oil Refinery in preparation for the rollout of the 24-hour economy programme.

The visit, which took place on Nov 17, forms part of the work of the 24hour economy Sub-committee, established to review downstream operations and identify the interventions required for a smooth implementation of the initiative. The exercise will be conducted in all fuel installations across the country.

In his remarks, Dr. Bukari, who is also the Chairman of the Infrastructure and Technology Sub-committee of the 24-hour economy programme in the petroleum downstream industry, the tour aimed to understand existing challenges and determine the support government must provide for the sector to transition smoothly into the 24-hour operations.

He explained that the committee has brought together various industry stakeholders to gather inputs, address operational concerns, and appreciate the realities of downstream activities.

The Executive Chairman of Sentuo Group Mr Xu Ningquan commended the 24hour economy policy but expressed concerns about several issues hindering their business including zonalisation, poor road infrastructure that leads to tanker breakdowns and traffic congestion.

Dr Bukari assured them that the discussions are ongoing to find practical solutions to the problems, emphasizing that fueling the nation is essential and cannot be compromised.

The tour offered a closer look at existing operational challenges and identified where government support could make the most meaningful difference
