Water main replacement project begins

The City of Lakewood has begun preparation work for an upcoming water main replacement project on sections of the city's water system.

Starting this week, crews are checking the locations of existing underground utilities in areas where the work will take place. This early preparation may require temporary lane or street section closures for crew safety, but residents will continue to have driving access.

The first waterline improvement is expected to begin on Clubhouse Drive between East Carson Street and north of Cartagena Street in late July. Work will continue in phases, with the final improvements on Del Amo Boulevard between Paramount Boulevard and Silva Street scheduled for completion in spring 2027.

Once construction begins, residents on affected streets will receive notice from the contractor 48 hours before work starts in their area. During installation, there may be short periods when driveway access or curbside parking is temporarily unavailable. Urgent access needs can be accommodated.
