Today
The State Secretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Eva Granados, presented Spain's Feminist Cooperation Strategy on Monday at the Cervantes Institute in New York. The presentation was made as part of the events commemorating International Women's Day, during which the United Nations is holding the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), which is taking place between 9 and 19 March 2026 at the Organisation's headquarters in New York.

The debate on the Feminist Cooperation Strategy at the Cervantes Institute focused on the role of regional and local authorities in combating violence against women, the global state of women's political and economic participation in the world, sexual health and reproductive rights, and the care society.

The presentation was also attended by María Guijarro, State Secretary for Equality and the Eradication of Violence against Women; Miriam Ciscar, Deputy Director of Feminist Cooperation, Economic and Human Development and Governance at the AECID; Andrea Costafreda, Director General of Development Cooperation at the Generalitat de Catalunya; Foteini Papagioti, Director of the International Research Centre on Women (Women's Major Group); Paula Narváez, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at UNFPA; and Ana Güezmes, Director of the Gender Affairs Division at ECLAC.

Spanish delegation at CSW70

Granados heads a large Spanish delegation at CSW70, which includes the Ambassador on Special Mission for Feminist Foreign Policy, Ana María Alonso, representatives from the AECID and the Ministry of Equality, members of the Congress and Senate, and a broad representation of regional institutions and civil society.

The main theme of CSW70 is the need to guarantee and strengthen access to justice for all women and girls by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and overcoming structural barriers. Ambitious and action-oriented conclusions are expected on this issue.

During her participation in CSW70, the State Secretary for International Cooperation also took part in meetings of the Ibero-American Network of Women Politicians, in the round table of donors for inclusive sexual and reproductive health rights for people with disabilities, organised by UNFPA, and in a debate on care as a human right and global public good.
