Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05)joined local leaders to celebrate the delivery of federal funding to communities in Oregon's Fifth Congressional District. The Congresswoman first celebrated $1,092,000 in funding for the Water Transmission Main Project at Oregon City Hall, which will provide clean drinking water for generations of Oregonians. Rep. Bynum also celebrated $850,000 in funding for the Kellogg Project at Milwaukie City Hall, to improve infrastructure over Kellogg Creek.
"Access to clean drinking water and infrastructure investments is fundamental to the success of our communities and the well-being of Oregonians," Rep. Janelle Bynum said. "I am proud to deliver over $1.9 million in federal funding for these essential projects and will continue to fight to bring money home for our communities."
"Milwaukie staff and residents have been working on removal of Kellogg Dam and replacement of the bridge since at least the late 1990s,"said Milwaukie Mayor Lisa Batey. "This will upgrade infrastructure that's vulnerable to an earthquake, and reconnect the downtown to Milwaukie Bay and the Willamette River. We'll have less flood risk and more access for residents to greenspaces along Kellogg Creek, with salmon and steelhead swimming through downtown Milwaukie. We really appreciate the crucial support from Representative Bynum."
"On behalf of the COC I'd like to thank Representative Bynum for helping us acquire the remaining funds to complete the Henrici Reservoir Project," Oregon City Mayor Denyse McGriff said. "This important and vital water infrastructure project supports the goal of the City of Oregon City to invest in our infrastructure. With this investment, we are able to enhance our system to maintain safe and reliable drinking water now and into the future for our residents and businesses.
In total, Congresswoman Bynum has secured $14,725,250for Oregon's Fifth Congressional District through Community Project Funding.
