Update on electricity infrastructure incident and stabilization measures.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to update residents on the ongoing restoration work on the Chelsea-Arlington-Walmer-Summerstrand line. Out of the nine damaged structures, seven have been safely dismantled, and twenty foundation holes for the new poles and stays have been completed in preparation for the replacement structures.

Additional earth-moving equipment will be brought to site to speed up excavation, bush clearance, and the construction of access roads in preparation for conductor stringing. Five new structures have already been delivered to the site, with an additional five monopoles expected today, along with the first batch of reconstruction materials. An extra team will also arrive tomorrow (Sunday) to help expedite the work.
