On October 25, 2024, Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) began issuing warnings for violations captured by the Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS) of vehicles speeding 10+ mph above the posted limit. A sign stating "Traffic Laws Photo Enforced" is posted at the beginning and end of each section to visually notify motorists they have entered an AVIS corridor. Motorists can also see these same signs posted at intersections equipped with red-light cameras.
The 30-day warning period will end on November 24, 2024. Beginning November 25, 2024, violations captured by AVIS of speeding 10+ mph above the posted limit in the identified corridors will receive a citation instead of a warning. The identified AVIS corridors can be found in previous announcements.
The initial warning period did not include the intersection equipped with red-light cameras at College Avenue and Drake Road. FCPS will begin issuing warnings for violations captured by AVIS of vehicles speeding 10+ mph above the posted limit at the intersection of College Ave. and Drake Rd. beginning Monday, November 11, 2024. Violators will receive a courtesy warning notice during a 30-day period and no further action is required by the registered owner and/or the recipient.
FCPS encourages our community to be well-informed and to research the associated legislation and codes (SB 23-200, SB24-195, C.R.S 42-4-110.5, F.C.T.C 615 and F.C.T.C 1106) for further information regarding AVIS enforcement. The FCPS Camera Radar Coordinator is also available to answer questions; at 970-416-2236.
