WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced that the Town of Morganton will receive $4,063,203.21 in federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to restore and replace two buildings at Catawba Meadows Park that were destroyed during Hurricane Helene in 2024.
"The Catawba Meadows Park is a beautiful park located along the Catawba River that serves as an important part of the community," said Congressman Moore. "I'm grateful to the Trump Administration and FEMA for stepping up with the funding of this restoration. This project will support local community events and marks another important step in rebuilding Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene."
This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act and will support the full replacement of two buildings located on the Catawba Meadows Park. The project includes demolition, excavation, and the installation of a new structure built to current codes and standards.
The total cost of the project is $4,514,670.23, with 90% covered by federal funds. FEMA Public Assistance grants to Western North Carolina communities have now surpassed $1 billion since Hurricane Helene.
