Notice to the Public and Request for Information

LAS 35662

Turnagain Marine Construction

Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Turnagain Marine Construction

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35662

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:

State-owned tideland on the southwestern shore of Douglas Island along Stephens Passage, approximately 58.2858 N, 134.6747 W.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Approximately 16.39 acres of state-owned tideland in Sections 29, 30, and Section 32, Township 41 South, Range 66 East, Copper River Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

Turnagain Marine Construction ("the applicant") is requesting a two-year and three-month Land Use Permit for driving various heavy equipment across state-owned tideland. The equipment will be transported to staging areas in the upland and to borehole drilling sites in the tideland and upland as part of a generally allowed use geotechnical study.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

Start: August 1, 2025

End: October 31, 2027

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: August 4, 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at either christ.scott@alaska.gov or to the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Ave./PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
