Citizens evacuated from Israel safely arrive in Belgrade

The Serbian government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have successfully organised the return of a total of 67 citizens of Serbia and citizens of Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia, who were evacuated from the State of Israel.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they safely arrived in Belgrade on a special Air Serbia flight from Sharm el-Sheikh.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Damjan Jović, who travelled to Egypt to coordinate the action, emphasised that Serbian diplomatic and consular missions are working day and night in the interests of our citizens.

Jović said that the state has an obligation to take care of its citizens in all circumstances, both in good and bad, and that this is precisely the reason for organising an evacuation flight for citizens who found themselves in the areas affected by war.

He underlined that the flight was not intended exclusively for Serbian citizens, but also included several citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Croatia and Slovenia.

According to him, although this is a humanitarian issue, with this gesture Serbia wants to send a clear message that it strives for the best and closest relations filled with solidarity with neighbouring countries.

He expressed his gratitude to Air Serbia, without whose support it would not have been possible to implement the evacuation so quickly and efficiently, assessing that this is another confirmation of the importance of the national airline for the state and its citizens.
