From 14 to 16 September 2025, EUCAP organized in collaboration with the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) and Somaliland authorities, a three-day workshop to enhance first response and investigative capacities in addressing gender-based violence (GBV).

This three-day workshop brought together 35 national participants comprised of 15 women police officers, 6 representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, and Family (five women and one man), one female participant from the Ministry of Justice, one female Deputy Attorney General, two female local staff of the United Nations Development Programme and UN Women, and ten representatives of civil society organisations working in prevention and response to GBV.

In addition to reinforcing local capacities, this workshop enhanced collaboration between national authorities and international partners, as well as coordination and complementarity between EUCAP and UN entities operating in the same area.

The occasion also served to kick-start discussions regarding the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325 and plausible activities to advance elimination of gender-based violence in the upcoming '16 Days campaign for the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls'.
