The fourth regular meeting of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing for the year 2025 was held Tuesday, October 7, 2025, chaired by H.E. Naji Mohammed Issa Governor of the Central Bank of Libya and Chairman of the Committee, with the participation of representatives from relevant national entities and institutions.
During the meeting, the increasing risks and consequences resulting from the non-adoption of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Law were discussed.
The meeting also reviewed the most prominent developments in the implementation of the National Strategy for AML/CTF, in addition to following up on the formation of a number of specialized working groups in various areas within theAML/CTF framework, with the aim of strengthening national coordination and enhancing the capacities of the concerned entities in line with the relevant international standards.
The meeting also witnessed the formation of a national team to commence the National Risk Assessment, with the aim of identifying weaknesses and potential threats, and developing policies and procedures based on an accurate risk assessment to safeguard the national economy and the stability of the financial system.
