JAKARTA, 11 August 2026 - ASEAN and Denmark held the First ASEAN-Denmark Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AD-JSCC) Meeting today at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. This is the first formal meeting between both sides since Denmark was conferred the status of ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers in January this year.
The Meeting adopted the Terms of Reference for the Committee and agreed to develop Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA) for ASEAN-Denmark Sectoral Dialogue Partnership, which will guide the Partnership over the next five years. The Meeting also exchanged views on cooperation across the three ASEAN Community pillars, including combatting transnational crime, counter-terrorism, human rights, trade and investment, energy transition including through the ASEAN Power Grid initiative, climate adaptation and resilience, sustainable agriculture, green and blue economy, digital, circular economy, maritime transport, green shipping, consumer protection, Science, Technology and Innovation, green technology, health and biotechnology, people-to-people exchanges including through support to the ASEAN Junior Fellowship Programme, smart cities, Connectivity, sustainable development and narrowing the development gap. Both sides underlined the importance of aligning cooperation with ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political-Security Community, H.E. Dato' Astanah Abdul Aziz, and Ambassador of Denmark to ASEAN, H.E. Sten Frimodt Nielsen, co-chaired the Meeting. Members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN or their representatives were in attendance.
