City of Des Plaines Prepares for Anticipated Flooding Along Des Plaines River

Des Plaines, IL-The City of Des Plaines is preparing for anticipated flooding along the Des Plaines River beginning this evening and continuing through later this week, according to current forecasts.

City departments, including Public Works, the Fire Department, and the Police Department, are coordinating efforts to ensure residents' safety and minimize property damage.

Sandbags are available for pickup at the Public Works facility, located at 1111 Joseph Schwab Road. As conditions develop, Public Works may establish remote sandbag filling stations in areas impacted by flooding.

At this time, there are no road closures. However, lane or full road closures may occur as conditions change. Public safety officials expect significant traffic delays near the Des Plaines River, and drivers are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

The City will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as the situation evolves. Residents are encouraged to follow the City's official website and social media channels for the latest information.
