City to Activate Orange Flag Overnight Cooling Center June 26-28

The City of Greensboro will activate an overnight Orange Flag cooling center Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Operated by Greensboro Community Safety Department staff, the Orange Flag cooling center will be open 7 pm to 7 am on Friday, June 26; Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, at the Interactive Resource Center, 407 E. Washington St. It is available to single adults and families.

Activation of the Orange Flag occurs on days when the forecast daytime temperatures and/or heat index reach 90 degrees or higher, and overnight temperatures are not expected to fall below 70 degrees.

Please note the daytime cooling stations and hydration station in Greensboro operate regardless of the Orange Flag status during the summer months. For more information on initiatives put in place to support the Greensboro community during extreme heat, visit www.Greensboro-nc.gov/coolingservices.
