Nominations are now open for the City of Norman Human Rights Award, which honors an individual or group in Norman for their exceptional contributions, dedicated efforts, and/or leadership in advancing human rights, equality, and community service. This prestigious award is managed by the Norman Human Rights Commission and presented annually by the Norman City Council.
The selection criteria for the award takes into consideration four key areas: Achievement(s), Innovative Leadership, Mission, and Service. Nominees are recognized for their successes and the positive impact of their achievements on the Norman community; their ability to inspire, motivate, foster cooperation, create programs, set an example, and drive innovation; their commitment to the mission through time, service, personal effort, risks, and sacrifices; and the support and services they provide to the community. Consideration is also given to the sustainability, timeliness, recurrence, and ability to replicate the projects or services that demonstrate a lasting impact.
The deadline for submitting nominations is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026. Nomination forms can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the Norman Human Rights Commission at:
