San Diego, CA - On Saturday, May 16, 2026, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, toured Feeding San Diego to learn more about the organization's food rescue and hunger relief programs which provide meals for thousands of families in San Diego.
During the visit, Senator Schiff joined volunteers to package up local produce, learning about the work that goes into the production of meals. He also heard directly about the devastating impact that President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act is already having for food-insecure families through the gutting of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as CalFresh in California, placing a larger strain on food assistance organizations across the country.
Schiff highlighted his commitment to ensuring the Farm Bill reverses cuts to SNAP as well as bolsters other federal feeding programs that will ensure American families and the most vulnerable can easily access nutritious food.
